Well friends, it's been a while, but I'm back at it after a three year hiatus since the birth of my daughter, Leora.  Here's some pics I posted on Instagram, from our beach walk the other day, with Wolfie romping in the background.

Sirocco Necklace

Here's another one-of-a-kind piece that sold recently at the Bowen Island Summer Market, a very cute and laid back craft fair that happens every weekend on Bowen Island.  This necklace was one of my faves, and actually hard to part with. But, as I lay out my jewelry that morning, I thought, today's your day Sirocco Necklace.  And low and behold.... to the lovely new owner... you look great in it! Circle of the Sun

 I just love the National Film Board of Canada's website where you can watch so many of their films going back to the 1940's.  Saw this one over the weekend.... Circle of the Sun, shot in 1956 at the Sun Dance gathering in rural Alberta of several Native bands from the area.  Enjoy!

Spinning wool under the moonlight, sounds good to me!
Sounds like something my Jewish/ Berber ancestors would do.
But, according to artist Julia Sherman...

"In the Kabbalah it says that unmarried women are forbidden to spin under the moonlight, as it is seen as a brazen display of one’s sexual potential."

Right.  I'm already married, so I'm good to go.
Oh and yes, the next full moon is this Saturday night.

a little macrame madness

Remember my macrame work for Aritzia (read about it here).  Thought I'd share a couple of great blog postings about it, via Post Grad Haircut and The Wren.

I am ever-obsessed with the knot-tying madness that is macrame. While researching seventies macrame patterns, I came across this astounding sculptural work by American fibre artist Claire Zeisler. I can only imagine the hours of finicky work that went into these massive beings.  My mind is truly blown!

my orange pup tent

I came across this great photo on Ferns and Moss today.  Oh nostalgia... I totally lived in a tent like this for a summer on Cortes Island in the BC Gulf Islands in 1999. It was orange and I found it in my parents' basement.  I camped on beaches and in friends' backyards, yes, every night.  Until one morning in September, I woke up with a drenched, orange plastic blanket on my face.... soon after, I found something a little more suitable for the winter rains... a trailer.
